The 3M ™ RelyX ™ ARC Adhesive Resin Cement System is a dual polymerization paste-paste permanent luting resin developed for use with the 3M ™ Single Bond Dental Adhesive System. Used in this combination, the system is indicated for cementing indirect restorations such as crowns, bridges, Maryland bridges (adhesive), inlays, onlays and for endodontic post cementation. These indirect restorations can be composed of porcelain, ceramic, pre-cured composite, metal, or porcelain fused to metal (PFM). The system can also be used for adhesive (bonded) amalgam restorations. RelyX ™ ARC resin cement provides a dual cure system that has a working time of approximately 2 minutes. It has an automatic polymerization setting time of 10 minutes from the start of mixing. The material can also be light cured to accelerate the reaction setting time for applications where light is reaccessible to cement. RelyX ™ ARC Adhesive Resin Cement offers a material with high physical strength, high wear resistance, high bond strength to a variety of substrates, and low film build when used with Single Bond adhesive. The aesthetic properties, the color and the opacity, were determined with the information of the dentist. RelyX ™ ARC is available in a Transparent (A1) and a Universal (A3) color. In addition, RelyX ™ ARC Adhesive Resin Cement provides improved handling properties. RelyX ™ ARC was formulated using input from the customer to determine optimal handling characteristics and provide an easy-to-mix, easy-to-clean, and easy-to-adjust cement. To provide these desirable characteristics, RelyX ™ ARC Adhesive Resin Cement contains a new polymeric component for which a patent has been applied. The new component is a dimethacrylate polymer that modifies the rheology or handling of the material and allows the following benefits: v The cement flows easily when loading the crowns, but does not run when inverting the crown. v Cement flows during crown seating under constant force, but stops when crown is seated. Then it forms a collar of excess cement that allows a well-sealed margin and easy access to the material for cleaning. 4 v Excess cement forms an intermediate gel phase in approximately 2-3 minutes allowing the cement to be easily cleaned off with an instrument. v Cement can be brushed for easier application as an amalgam adhesive.
